Job summary

AeroVironment seeks a Senior Software Engineer to join the LEAP team on MacCready Works. You will implement and optimize computer vision pipelines in C++ for low-SWaP processors (e.g., Nvidia Xavier/Orin) and deploy on USVs and other unmanned systems.

Responsibilities include testing, documentation, and presenting results to customers, mentoring junior engineers, and delivering software under moderate supervision in a fast-paced defense environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Engineering, Math, or Physics or equivalent.
• 5–8 years of relevant software engineering experience.
• Strong C/C++ skills with OO design.
• Experience with CMake and modern C++ build systems.
• Experience with Python for tooling and prototyping.
• Experience with Ubuntu and/or CentOS Linux.
• Experience writing unit tests and debugging code.
• Familiarity with Git and IDEs.

Responsibilities

• Implements and optimizes computer vision and perception algorithms using C++, including build system configuration with CMake, for low-SWaP embedded processors.
• Supports testing and demonstration of components and integrated systems.
• Develops documentation, technical reports, and provides inputs for customer presentations.
• Creates software design documentation per software process requirements.
• Delivers work on time according to project schedule and budget.
• Works with other software developers to reuse code across programs.
• Mentors less experienced engineers and works under moderate supervision.
