Job summary

AeroVironment is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to advance image and video processing on low-SWaP devices (Nvidia Xavier/Orin) for USV and unmanned systems. You will implement, optimize, test, and document perception pipelines in C++ on embedded platforms, with collaboration across teams and customers.

The role requires a BS in CS/Engineering and 5–8 years of software experience, strong C/C++, Python, Linux, and Git skills, plus the ability to obtain a DoD clearance. Citizenship is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in CS/engineering/physics.
• 5–8 years in software engineering.
• Proficient in C/C++ with data structures and OOP.
• Experience with CMake and modern C++ build systems.
• Python for tooling and prototyping.
• Ubuntu/CentOS Linux experience.
• Unit tests and debugging experience.
• Familiar with Git; collaboration with devs/customers.

Responsibilities

• Implement and optimize CV/perception algorithms in C++.
• Configure build systems; target low-SWaP processors.
• Support testing, demos, and documentation.
• Create design docs per software process guidelines.
• Deliver tasks on schedule and participate in code reviews.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate across teams.
• Engage with external developers and customers.
