Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the LEAP team within the MacCready Works segment. You will develop video processing and perception pipelines for low-SWaP embedded processors and integrate into UAS, with testing in benchtop and field environments.

Qualifications include 5–8 years in software engineering, strong C/C++, CMake, and Linux, plus Python tooling. Willingness to work in a fast-paced setting and collaborate with customers and engineers is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Engineering, Math or Physics or equivalent.
• 5–8 years of software engineering experience required.
• Strong C/C++ skills and knowledge of data structures, OOP and workflows.
• Experience with CMake and modern C++ build systems.
• Python for tooling and prototyping; Linux experience (Ubuntu/CentOS).
• Experience writing unit tests and debugging code; Git familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Implements and optimizes CV/perception algorithms in C++ for embedded processors.
• Supports testing and demonstration of components and systems.
• Creates documentation and reports for customers and stakeholders.
• Develops software design docs per process guidelines.
• Writes code per standards, creates tests, and contributes to process improvements.
• Delivers work on time within schedule and budget.
