Job summary

AeroVironment is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to drive computer vision and perception pipelines in the LEAP group within MacCready Works. You will mentor engineers, optimize C++ algorithms for low-SWaP processors, and integrate into UAS and USV platforms with field testing.

Responsibilities include documentation, test development, and collaboration with customers and external teams while delivering on tight schedules in a dynamic environment. U.S.

Qualifications

• Degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
• 8–12 years of software engineering experience.
• Proficient in C/C++ and modern build systems.
• Experience with Linux, unit tests, and debugging.

Responsibilities

• Implement and optimize CV/perception algorithms in C++ for embedded targets.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to software processes.
• Create design docs, test plans, and customer-facing reports.
• Collaborate across teams to reuse software across programs.
