Job summary

Norton Rose Fulbright US LLP, based in the United States, is seeking compliance lawyers to review conflict-of-interest checks for lateral hires and to resolve identified conflicts to facilitate hiring. The role reports to an Assistant Deputy General Counsel, Compliance and collaborates with Global Compliance Lawyers and firm partners.

The position may be performed remotely from any state with an office, and requires occasional after-hours work with a rotating on-call schedule.

Qualifications

• Bar admission in one or more states where the firm has an office (CA, NY, TX, DC).
• Experience working as an attorney.
• Strong knowledge of US conflicts rules.
• Excellent commercial judgment.
• Strong written and oral communication skills in a multi-cultural environment.
• Maturity and judgment to work with senior management and partners.
• Ability to exercise risk-based judgment daily.
• Familiar with confidentiality, privilege and client care.

Responsibilities

• Advise partners, attorneys and the Global Compliance Team on identifying and resolving potential conflicts of interest, including legal and ethical considerations and business concerns.
• Supervise workflows and products of at least two Compliance Analysts to ensure consistent throughput.
• Interact with Norton Rose Fulbright US LLP management to resolve conflicts in the context of new matter intake, lateral hires, business development, and practice development projects.
• Drive conflicts to full resolution and manage a docket of 15–30 outstanding matters.
• Prepare conflict reports for prospective lateral hires with identified issues and proposed solutions.
• Assist with enforcement of Norton Rose Fulbright's Global Practice Standards covering stock and share dealings, external appointments, anti-bribery, sanctions, AML, and cybersecurity considerations.
• Liaise with Compliance Teams across regions on a daily basis.
• Analyze conflicts involving directorships and trusteeships to maintain databases.
• Review client relationship letters to identify contractual obligations in conflict resolution.
• Address questions related to our share-dealing policies.
