Job summary

Norton Rose Fulbright US LLP is seeking compliant lawyers to join the US Compliance team, focusing on reviewing conflict-of-interest checks for lateral hires and resolving issues to facilitate hiring. The role supports a multi-office, global compliance network and may require after-hours work.

The position reports to an Assistant Deputy General Counsel, Compliance and collaborates with global teams. Remote work from states with offices is possible, with obligation to attend the office when

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice law in one or more States where Norton Rose Fulbright US LLP has an office (TX, NY, CA, DC).
• Experience working as an attorney.
• A thorough acquaintance with and working knowledge of US conflicts rules.
• Highly intelligent with excellent commercial judgment.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and experience operating in a multi-cultural environment.
• Sufficient maturity and judgment to work with senior management and partners.
• Be sufficiently confident to exercise risk-based judgment daily.
• Familiar with confidentiality, privilege and client care duties.
• Analytical with ability to anticipate problems and propose solutions.
• Ability to supervise the work of two analysts; supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Advise partners, attorneys and the Global Compliance Team on conflicts identification and resolution.
• Supervise workflows and the work products of at least two Compliance Analysts.
• Interact with Norton Rose Fulbright US LLP management to resolve conflicts related to matter intake, lateral hires, and business development.
• Drive conflict issues to full resolution and manage a docket of 15–30 matters.
• Prepare conflict reports for prospective lateral hires and identify solutions for issues.
• Assist with enforcement and issues related to Firm Standards (stock dealings, external appointments, sanctions, etc.).
• Liaise with Compliance Teams across regions on a daily basis.
• Analyze conflict issues involving directorships and trusteeships to maintain databases.
• Review client relationship letters for contractual obligations in conflict resolution.
• Address questions related to policy on share dealing.
