Job summary

Baker Tilly is seeking a Senior to join our Compliance Advisory team in the United States. You will provide advisory services to governmental, tribal, private and not-for-profit organizations, focusing on grant management, compliance, internal controls, and policy development.

You will collaborate with clients and colleagues to assess needs, design practical improvements, prepare clear deliverables, and guide junior staff to ensure timely, high-quality results. Travel about 20% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, public administration, or related field; Master’s preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience; public accounting or professional services experience strongly preferred.
• Experience serving governmental, tribal, and/or not-for-profit organizations preferred.
• Experience with grant management and compliance activities, internal control reviews or assessments, and/or internal audit.
• Experience with Single Audits and federally funded programs preferred.
• CPA, CIA, CGMA, CFE, or other relevant professional designation preferred.
• Familiarity with GAGAS/Yellow Book, Uniform Guidance, and IIA standards preferred.
• Understanding of the financial, compliance, and operational environments of governmental and not-for-profit organizations.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze complex issues, exercise professional judgment, develop practical solutions, and communicate findings and recommendations clearly.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing reports, findings, recommendations, and other client-facing deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Support grant compliance monitoring activities and develop monitoring programs.
• Lead grant compliance reviews and present clear, actionable findings and recommendations.
• Perform and lead internal control reviews, internal audits, and operational assessments.
• Develop and enhance policies, procedures, processes, and internal controls.
• Conduct interviews, review documentation, perform analyses, and prepare client deliverables.
• Collaborate with clients to understand current accounting and business practices, identify opportunities for improvement, and develop practical solutions.
• Communicate project status, issues, and results to engagement team members and client stakeholders.
• Provide guidance to and review the work of junior team members to support high-quality and timely project delivery.
