Job summary

Munich Re Specialty - North America is seeking a Senior Claims Specialist to join the Complex Team, handling high-exposure casualty and specialty claims across multiple lines within our North American operations.

You will Directly manage in-house and third-party administered claims, collaborate with counsel, experts and vendors, analyze coverage, oversee investigations, and pursue recoveries and risk transfers.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience handling high exposure casualty and/or specialty claims.
• Bachelor's degree required; law degree preferred.
• Strong understanding of technical claims proficiency and execution of best claim practices.
• Ability to work independently, multi-task, and stay motivated in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to travel ~10–15% for mediations, settlements, and meetings.
• Maintain valid adjusters' licenses in assigned states or ability to obtain them.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and assess claims for coverage, damages, and recoveries.
• Exercise thoughtful curiosity and strategic judgment.
• Understand coverage issues, policy forms, contracts, and regulatory requirements.
• Proactively manage claims with a strategic focus on outcomes.
• Set timely reserves reflecting changes in exposure over the life of the claim.
• Demonstrate technical proficiency in best claim practices.
• Coordinate with outside counsel and vendors to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Present high-exposure claims to leadership and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with partners for meetings, product development, and audits.
• Identify ways to improve claim efficiencies and outcomes.
