Job summary

Munich Re Specialty - North America seeks a Senior Claims Specialist to lead complex, high-exposure casualty and specialty claims across in-house and third-party administration. You will collaborate with counsel, experts and vendors to determine coverage, manage investigations and pursue recoveries while communicating with stakeholders.

You will analyze coverage, strategies and reserves, while ensuring timely decisions and adherence to regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Law degree preferred.
• 10+ years experience in handling high exposure casualty and/or specialty claims, or related legal experience.
• Ability to work independently, multi-task, and stay motivated in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational skills and time management of claims desk.
• Willingness to travel ~10–15% of time.
• Maintain valid adjuster licenses in assigned states or ability to obtain them.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and assess claims for coverage and damages, pursuing recoveries and subrogation opportunities.
• Exercise thoughtful curiosity and maintain strategic oversight of claims.
• Understand coverage issues, policy forms, contracts, regulatory requirements and evolving laws for casualty and specialty lines.
• Proactively manage claims with a strategic vision for optimal outcomes.
• Evaluate reserves and adjust as needed over the life of the claim.
• Coordinate with outside counsel and vendors to achieve favorable results.
• Present high-exposure claims to leadership and key stakeholders.
• Collaborate with internal/external partners for meetings, audits and product development.
