Job summary

Munich Re Specialty - North America is seeking a Senior Claims Specialist to direct all aspects of complex casualty and specialty claims, including coverage analysis, investigations, and subrogation opportunities. You will work with counsel, experts, and vendors to drive optimal outcomes.

You will also coordinate with internal teams for client meetings, product development, and audits, maintain reserves, and travel 10–15% for mediations and meetings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Law degree preferred.
• 10+ years experience handling high exposure casualty and/or specialty claims, or relevant legal experience.
• Strong understanding of coverage issues, policy forms, contracts, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Thoroughly investigate and assess claims for coverage and damages, and pursue recoveries and subrogation.
• Exercise thoughtful curiosity and demonstrate understanding of coverage issues and regulatory requirements.
• Proactively manage claims with strategic vision for optimal outcomes.
• Know when to escalate and coordinate with outside counsel and vendors.
• Present high exposure claims to leadership and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with internal/external partners for client meetings and audits.
