Job summary

Munich Re Specialty - North America is seeking a Senior Claims Specialist to lead complex casualty and specialty line claims across in-house and third-party administration. You will determine coverage, supervise investigations, manage reserves, and coordinate with counsel, vendors, and partners to drive optimal outcomes.

The role requires a law-leaning mindset, strong negotiation and analytical skills, and a willingness to travel 10–15%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Law degree preferred.
• 10+ years of experience handling high-exposure casualty and/or specialty claims or relevant legal experience.
• Detail-oriented, adaptable, and strategic in decision-making.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Maintain valid adjusters’ licenses in states assigned or ability to obtain them.

Responsibilities

• Thoroughly investigate and assess claims for coverage, damages, and recoveries.
• Exercise thoughtful curiosity in claim handling.
• Demonstrate understanding of coverage issues, policy forms, contracts, regulatory requirements, and changing landscape for casualty and specialty line claims.
• Proactively manage claims with a strategic vision for optimal outcomes.
• Set appropriate, timely reserves reflecting exposure changes.
• Demonstrate technical proficiency through best claim practices.
• Coordinate with outside counsel and vendors to obtain optimal outcomes.
• Present high exposure claims to Claims Leadership and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners for client meetings, product development and audits.
• Look for ways to improve claim efficiencies and outcomes.
