Wabtec is seeking a Machine Shop Operator to set up and run CNC and conventional machines, fabricating metallic and nonmetallic parts per drawings and specs. You will verify tolerances with precision tools and work with engineers to resolve issues.

The role requires 5 years in setup, solid math/reading/computer skills, and ability to follow instructions. Typical day includes determining operations, tooling, and process improvements in a fast-paced shop.

• Sets up and operates conventional and numerical control machines to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts.
• Reads engineering drawings and follows process sheets to determine dimensions.
• Looks for ways to improve manufacturing processes and tooling.

Responsabilidades

• Sets up and operates CNC and conventional machines as per drawings and specs.
• Confer with engineers and programmers to resolve machining or assembly problems.
• Study prints to determine dimensions and tolerances, determine operation sequence.
• Select fixtures and tooling according to material specs and processes.
• Calculate feeds, speeds, and depths of cuts; may write G-code for operations.
• Produce first-run parts and verify conformance with precision instruments.
• Load programs, take offsets, find zero and run manual operations if needed.
• Identify improvements to manufacturing processes and keep area clean.
