Job summary

Fuze Health Inc. seeks a Senior Database Administrator to lead its hospice-focused database modernization. You'll manage SQL Server upgrades, SSIS/SSRS migrations, and cost optimization on AWS, while mentoring the Hospice DBA team and enforcing HITRUST compliance.

You will implement cloud-native monitoring, automate backups, and collaborate with DevOps on Terraform-based infrastructure. This role supports U.S. hospice operations remotely.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in database administration.
• Deep expertise with Microsoft SQL Server (2016+) performance tuning, high availability, disaster recovery.
• Hands-on experience with SQL Server version upgrades and end-of-support migrations.
• Strong hands-on experience with SSIS and SSRS.
• Experience with AWS RDS (SQL Server) setup, migration, monitoring, Multi-AZ.
• Experience with AWS-native ETL and data migration tooling (DMS, Glue) and/or plan for modernizing SSIS-based ETL in AWS.
• Experience with database migration projects (on-premises or EC2 to RDS, and in-place EC2 version upgrades).
• Strong understanding of backup/restore strategies and cross-region replication.
• Experience with monitoring tools (Datadog, CloudWatch, SQL Server DMVs).
• Proficiency in T-SQL, stored procedures, and query optimization.
• Experience in regulated environments (HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC2)

Responsibilities

• Lead planning and execution of SQL Server modernization on EC2 and AWS RDS.
• Migrate/build SSIS/SSRS on AWS or upgrade on SQL Server EC2.
• Drive database cost optimization and right-size resources.
• Upskill Hospice SQL DBA team on AWS database operations.
• Establish cloud-native monitoring with Datadog and CloudWatch.
• Design automated backup, restore, and DR processes using AWS Backup.
• Collaborate with DevOps on infrastructure automation (Terraform).
• Ensure HITRUST/compliance across database systems.
• Support Hospice application team with database needs.
• Evaluate future modernization options (PostgreSQL/Aurora).
