Syms Strategic Group (SSG) seeks a Senior Systems Engineer (Production Support) to deliver high-level operational support for cloud-based systems. You will diagnose, fix, and document incidents, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and help implement automation and security best practices.

The role emphasizes production stability, on-call readiness, and adherence to VA standards. Remote work is offered, with a strong focus on incident response and system optimization.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in systems engineering or related field, production environments.
• Experience with AWS and/or Azure cloud platforms, including services like S3 and CloudWatch.
• Strong Linux/Unix and Windows administration skills and scripting for automation.
• Proficiency with infra automation and configuration management tools.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Git-based workflows.
• Knowledge of network fundamentals, VPNs, and security best practices in production.
• Experience with monitoring and log analysis tools and incident response.
• Ability to work cross-functionally with development, operations and security teams.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day operational support of complex cloud systems.
• Develop solutions to routine technical problems within scope.
• Document issues accurately and report status to stakeholders.
• Troubleshoot outages, recover systems, and implement workarounds.
• Maintain inventory of assets and ensure VA standards compliance.
• Participate in on-call rotation for production support.
• Assist with security audits and configuration management.
