Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Production Support Engineer to join a 100% remote, U.S.-based team. The role focuses on day-to-day operational support of complex cloud systems, continuous improvement, and collaboration with VA stakeholders. The candidate should have 8+ years in production environments and strong cloud, scripting, and CI/CD skills.

Remote position with strict eligibility rules; U.S. citizenship and Public Trust (MBI) clearance are required.

Qualifications

• Experience with AWS and/or Azure Cloud, notably S3, Step Functions, Batch Jobs, and CloudWatch.
• Proven track record of managing and maintaining large-scale production systems.
• Strong proficiency in Linux/Unix and Windows operating systems.
• Experience with system administration tasks including user management, permissions, and system monitoring.
• Scripting in Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation and configuration management.
• Experience with automation tools like Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or SaltStack.
• Knowledge of IaC tools such as CloudFormation.
• Experience with monitoring tools like CloudWatch, DynaTrace, and Science Logic.
• Understanding of network protocols, firewalls, and VPN setup.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control (Git) and related tools.

Responsabilités

• Perform high-level, day-to-day operational support of complex application cloud systems.
• Develop solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope.
• Follow standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data.
• Detect, isolate, document, report, and resolve outages or problems in production systems.
• Document problems in logging and discrepancy reporting tools.
• Work directly with the customer in day-to-day activities.
• Respond to user calls regarding hardware and software problems and escalate when required.
• Communicate status of key problem statuses to users and management.
• Maintain computing infrastructure and perform installation/maintenance tasks.
• Implement continuous improvement via IT systems or procedures.
• Maintain inventory of system assets and ensure VA standards and security policies.
• Provide documentation, training, and additional duties as assigned.
• Collaborate with development, operations, and security teams for seamless production operations.
