Job summary

CVS Health Enterprise Technology is seeking a Lead Cloud Engineer to shape the Observability Platform for billions of logs, metrics, and traces across multiple clouds. You will architect high-throughput telemetry pipelines, mentor engineers, and collaborate with SRE and application teams to raise reliability and reduce toil.

You will design and implement secure, scalable observability services using Go, Python, and Java, driving platform improvements and open standards adoption in a Fortune 6

Qualifications

• 7+ years of Software Engineering experience.
• 5+ years with observability practices (SLIs/SLOs/SLAs, alerting, incident management).
• 5+ years building production-grade backend services in Go and/or Java.
• 5+ years implementing and operating OpenTelemetry.
• 5+ years with cloud-native and containerized platforms (Docker, Kubernetes, Argo CD).
• 5+ years with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• 3+ years designing scalable distributed data pipelines.
• 3+ years with Helmcharts, Kustomize, etc.
• 3+ years with Grafana OSS or comparable observability backends.
• 3+ years with Terraform or CloudFormation.
• 3+ years with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL).

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate core observability platform services using Go, Python, Java (Spring Boot).
• Lead enterprise-wide adoption of OpenTelemetry and instrumentation patterns.
• Architect and scale high-throughput telemetry pipelines (logs, metrics, traces).
• Develop self-service observability capabilities for onboarding and troubleshooting.
• Implement end-to-end monitoring with SLOs and health checks.
• Collaborate with SRE, Platform, and Cloud teams to set reliability standards.
• Lead incident mitigation and post-incident reviews.
• Automate workflows via CI/CD enhancements and platform automation.
• Ensure secure telemetry pipelines with mTLS and secrets management.
• Produce high-quality technical documentation and standards.
• Gather requirements and influence platform roadmap with engineering leadership.
