Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Lead Cloud Engineer for the Observability Platform to architect and scale telemetry pipelines across multiple clouds and datacenters. You will work with SRE and application teams to implement OpenTelemetry conventions and self-service observability capabilities.

The role emphasizes reliability, performance, and cost efficiency, with on-call responsibilities and mentorship across teams. A strong distributed-systems background is essential.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in Software Engineering.
• 5+ years with observability practices (SLIs/SLOs/SLAs, alerting, incident management).
• 5+ years building production-grade backend services in Go and/or Java.
• 5+ years implementing and operating OpenTelemetry (OTLP, conventions, instrumentation).
• 5+ years with cloud-native platforms (Docker, Kubernetes, Argo CD).
• 3+ years designing and scaling distributed data pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate core observability platform services.
• Lead enterprise-wide adoption of OpenTelemetry and instrumentation patterns.
• Architect and scale high-throughput telemetry pipelines (logs, metrics, traces).
• Develop self-service observability capabilities for onboarding and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with SRE, Platform, and Cloud teams to establish reliability standards.
