Job summary

CVS Health Enterprise Technology is seeking a Lead Cloud Engineer for the Observability Platform to shape the next generation of data pipelines across multi-cloud environments. Qualifications

• 7+ years of Software Engineering experience.
• 5+ years in observability (SLIs/SLOs/SLAs, alerting, incident management).
• 5+ years building production-grade backend services in Go and/or Java.
• 5+ years implementing and operating OpenTelemetry (OTLP, semantic conventions).
• 5+ years with cloud-native/containerized platforms (Docker, Kubernetes, Argo CD).
• 5+ years with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• 3+ years designing and scaling distributed data pipelines.
• 3+ years with Helmcharts, Kustomize etc.
• 3+ years with Grafana OSS or similar observability backends.
• 3+ years with Terraform or CloudFormation.
• 3+ years with PostgreSQL or MySQL.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate core observability platform services using Go, Python, Java (Spring Boot).
• Lead enterprise-wide adoption of OpenTelemetry and instrumentation patterns.
• Architect and scale high-throughput telemetry pipelines (logs, metrics, traces).
• Develop self-service observability capabilities for onboarding and troubleshooting.
• Implement end-to-end monitoring of the observability platform, define SLOs and alerts.
• Collaborate with SRE, Platform, and Cloud teams to set reliability standards.
• Participate in on-call rotations and lead incident reviews.
• Automate operational workflows via tooling and CI/CD enhancements.
• Ensure secure telemetry pipelines with mTLS and secret management.
• Produce and maintain platform documentation and standards.
• Engage with internal teams to influence roadmap and deliver improvements.
• Provide technical leadership through reviews and cross-team collaboration.
