Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Senior Configuration Analyst - II to lead software configuration management and release engineering for VA projects. This remote, US-based role requires deep CM expertise, DevOps experience, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure compliant, repeatable build and deployment processes.

The position involves guiding junior staff, integrating CI/CD practices, and maintaining CM standards across internal and external software products, including

Qualifications

• Proven track record leading and delivering complex software builds/releases.
• Experience in regulated/federal environments.
• Deep CM and release engineering expertise.
• Broad knowledge of development, QA, systems engineering, and DevOps.
• Experience with CM practices: identification, baselining, change control, status accounting.
• Experience with source control and branching/merging strategies.
• Experience with CI/CD tools and artifact repositories.
• Scripting experience for automation.
• Experience with COTS software, vendor patches, and version control.
• IaC and environment management (Ansible, Terraform).
• Knowledge of software quality standards, governance, and training developers.

Responsibilities

• Lead CM activities and release engineering for multiple environments.
• Develop and maintain CM tools and standards for CM identification and control.
• Design, implement, and automate build procedures and deployment processes.
• Train developers in CM tools and quality practices and provide technical guidance.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and mentor junior analysts/engineers.
• Ensure compliant, repeatable builds/releases across projects.
• Translate complex concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
