Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) seeks a Senior Configuration Analyst - II to drive software configuration management and release engineering for VA-related projects. This is a 100% remote U.S. based position with a requirement for U.S. Citizenship and Public Trust eligibility.

The role focuses on leading CM tool development, build and deployment standardization, and mentoring junior staff across multiple environments to ensure compliant, repeatable software releases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of relevant experience in software configuration management and release engineering.
• Experience in large, regulated enterprises or federal environments.
• Proficiency in CM tools, version control, and build/release governance.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Support VA applications and lead cloud migration efforts.
• Develop and maintain CM tools for identification, control, reporting, and delivery of software and COTS products.
• Perform CM and release tasks ensuring documented, compliant hardware configurations and sustainable deployments.
• Design, develop, automate, and maintain productivity tools for software modeling and development.
• Create build procedures to support software product development and usage.
• Develop software CM standards for company-wide use.
• Train developers in CM tools and quality practices.
• Provide technical guidance and solutions to complex problems.
• Operate autonomously and make sound decisions.
• Ensure compliant, repeatable build and deployment processes across projects.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Lead and mentor junior analysts/engineers in CM best practices.
