Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. seeks a Senior Architect to lead the architecture of our Compute Platform and IaaS products. You will work hands-on with operating systems, hypervisors, VMs, and containers as part of the Cloud Technology Group, embedding with engineering teams to shape the platform.

You will own design choices, build proofs of concept, mentor peers, and drive an Agile roadmap while collaborating with product stakeholders to enable scalable, reliable cloud services.

Qualifications

• 12 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent.
• Experience building and operating highly available, fault-tolerant, large-scale distributed services using Virtualization and Cloud-Native tech.
• Advanced knowledge of Linux, kernel internals, virtualization technologies, hypervisors, and performance optimization.
• Experience with containers and related tech (systemd, docker, containerd, Kubernetes).
• Strong scripting in Go, Python, and Bash.
• Understanding of SaaS, PaaS, IaaS with public cloud exposure.

Responsibilities

• Own the system design and implementation, guiding engineering while aligning with the big picture.
• Build proof-of-concepts to inform design choices and technology recommendations.
• Collaborate with product managers and architects to shape product direction.
• Contribute to and help shape the engineering roadmap with stakeholders.
• Develop best practices, share knowledge, and mentor team members.
• Collaborate with agile teams to deliver innovative, rapid development cycles.
