Job summary

Akamai is seeking a Senior Architect to design and guide scalable, secure cloud data architectures. You will lead efforts on high-availability databases, distributed data systems, and cutting-edge infrastructure patterns while mentoring engineers and aligning with product and SRE partners.

The role emphasizes hands-on development, proof-of-concept work, and the ability to translate prototypes into production-ready solutions across global platforms.

Qualifications

• 12 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, another related field or its equivalent.
• Expertise in developing reusable infrastructure using Terraform modules, templates, and deployment patterns.
• Demonstrate ability to develop scripts and automation using Python, Go, Bash, or similar languages.
• Have deep knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases including PostgreSQL, Oracle Database, and MongoDB.
• Demonstrate hands-on experience with in-memory and key-value technologies like Redis and Valkey.
• Have understanding of distributed data systems designed for horizontal scalability and high availability.

Responsibilities

• Design scalable, secure, resilient, and highly available cloud and data architectures.
• Evaluate cloud technologies and determine suitability for new platform capabilities and services.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for database architectures including PostgreSQL and Oracle.
• Design highly available, replicated, clustered, and geographically distributed database architectures.
• Build prototypes, proof of concepts, and reference implementations to validate scalability and security.
• Convert successful prototypes into repeatable architecture patterns and production-ready designs.
