Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior Architect to lead the architecture and design of next‑generation cloud infrastructure services within Akamai Cloud.

You will work embedded with engineering teams, owning system design and driving technology choices across IaaS platforms and Kubernetes-based products. You will collaborate with product managers to shape direction, build PoCs, and mentor teams while applying cloud-native practices in a fast‑paced, Agile environment.

Qualifications

• 12 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent
• Extensive experience building and operating highly available, fault‑tolerant, and large‑scale distributed production services using Virtualization and Cloud‑Native technologies (e.g. qemu, kvm, Cilium)
• Advanced knowledge of operating systems, linux internals, virtualization technologies, hypervisors, performance optimization
• Experience and solid understanding of containers and the technologies that revolve around them (e.g., systemd, docker, containerd, Kubernetes)
• Significant experience with Linux, Go, Python, Bash
• Good understanding of SaaS, PaaS, IaaS with experience in one or more public cloud offerings

Responsibilities

• Owning the system design and implementation and guiding engineering while aligning with the big picture
• Building proof of concepts to inform design choices and technologies
• Working with product managers and product architects to inform product direction
• Contributing to and shaping the engineering roadmap with stakeholders
• Developing best practices, sharing knowledge, and mentoring
• Collaborating with engineering teams in an Agile environment for rapid development and open communication
