Job summary

Akamai Technologies is seeking a senior software engineer to design and implement the next generation of cloud compute infrastructure powering the Akamai Connected Cloud. You will work on core compute platform infrastructure and APIs, collaborating with QEMU, Linux systems, and hardware teams to support ARM and x86 architectures.

You will contribute to native compute platforms, orchestration tools, and scalable services while participating in design reviews and mentoring teammates.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant software development experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Proficient in Python, Go, C/C++, or Rust.
• Experience with cloud compute virtualization technologies (KVM, QEMU) and container runtimes.
• Web application development, microservices, RESTful APIs, and database design patterns.
• Strong debugging, profiling, and troubleshooting across distributed Linux systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and scale ARM64 compute platform functionality, hypervisor integration, and instance management across ACC.
• Develop low-level platform services, resource orchestration tools, and compute APIs using Python, Go, or compiled languages.
• Design, implement, review, document, and test high-quality code with your team.
• Collaborate with peers and global teams to build new features or resolve software bugs.
• Participate in technical design reviews and mentor junior team members on infrastructure initiatives.
