Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior Architect to lead cloud data services architecture and guidance for scalable, secure data platforms. You will shape technical direction, coach engineers, and drive execution while aligning with product and SRE partners.

The role focuses on designing diverse data systems, evaluating cloud technologies, and producing production-ready patterns. A hands-on contributor with breadth across databases and distributed systems is essential.

Qualifications

• 12 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS or related field.
• Experience developing reusable infrastructure using Terraform modules, templates, and deployment patterns.
• Ability to develop scripts and automation using Python, Go, Bash, or similar languages.
• Deep knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases including PostgreSQL, Oracle and MongoDB.
• Hands-on with in-memory and key-value technologies like Redis and Valkey.
• Understanding of distributed data systems designed for horizontal scalability and high availability.

Responsibilities

• Design scalable, secure, resilient, and highly available cloud and data architectures.
• Evaluate cloud technologies and determine suitability for new platform capabilities.
• Serve as SME for database architectures including PostgreSQL and Oracle.
• Design highly available, replicated, clustered, distributed database architectures.
• Build prototypes, proofs of concept, and reference implementations to validate scalability and security.
• Convert prototypes into repeatable architecture patterns and production-ready designs.
