Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior Architect to lead architecture for the Compute Platform. You will work embedded with engineering teams to design, implement, and evolve a scalable IaaS-like cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes-based services.

Expect to own system design, perform PoCs, and mentor teams while collaborating with product managers to align the roadmap with business goals. Prior experience with Linux, containers, and cloud-native tech is required.

Qualifications

• 12 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent.
• Extensive experience building and operating highly available, fault-tolerant distributed services using virtualization and cloud-native technologies.
• Advanced knowledge of operating systems, Linux internals, virtualization technologies and hypervisors.
• Experience with containers and related technologies (systemd, Docker, containerd, Kubernetes).
• Significant experience with Linux, Go, Python, Bash.
• Understanding of SaaS, PaaS, IaaS with public cloud exposure.

Responsibilities

• Own the system design and implementation, guiding engineering toward the big picture.
• Build PoCs to evaluate design choices and technologies.
• Collaborate with product managers and architects to inform direction.
• Shape the engineering roadmap with stakeholders.
• Develop best practices, share knowledge, and mentor others.
• Partner with Agile teams to deliver innovative solutions with rapid cycles.
