Job summary

Akamai Technologies is seeking a Senior Architect to lead cloud data services architecture. You will design scalable, secure, and highly available data platforms and guide engineers across global teams.

You will evaluate new cloud technologies, craft production-ready patterns, and mentor teams while aligning with product and SRE partners. 12+ years of experience and a CS/Engineering degree are expected.

Qualifications

• 12 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, or related field
• Expertise in developing reusable infrastructure using Terraform modules, templates, and deployment patterns
• Ability to develop scripts and automation using Python, Go, Bash, or similar languages
• Deep knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases including PostgreSQL, Oracle DB, and MongoDB
• Hands-on experience with in-memory and key-value technologies like Redis and Valkey
• Understanding of distributed data systems designed for horizontal scalability and high availability

Responsibilities

• Design scalable, secure, resilient, and highly available cloud and data architectures
• Evaluate cloud technologies and determine suitability for new platform capabilities and services
• Serve as a subject matter expert for database architectures incl. PostgreSQL and Oracle
• Design highly available, replicated, clustered, and geographically distributed database architectures
• Build prototypes and reference implementations to validate scalability and security
• Convert prototypes into repeatable architecture patterns and production-ready designs
