Job summary

Akamai's Cloud Data Services team designs, builds, and operates high-scale data pipelines powering the Akamai platform. As Senior Architect you will lead scalable, secure, and highly available cloud architectures and mentor engineers while translating requirements into production-ready designs.

You will evaluate technologies, prototype solutions, and collaborate with product and SRE partners to ensure alignment on performance, reliability, and security across global deployments.

Qualifications

• Have 12 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, another related field or its equivalent
• Possess expertise in developing reusable infrastructure using Terraform modules, templates, and deployment patterns
• Demonstrate ability to develop scripts and automation using Python, Go, Bash, or similar languages
• Have deep knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases including PostgreSQL, Oracle Database, and MongoDB
• Demonstrate hands-on experience with in-memory and key-value technologies like Redis and Valkey
• Have understanding of distributed data systems designed for horizontal scalability and high availability

Responsibilities

• Designing scalable, secure, resilient, and highly available cloud and data architectures
• Evaluating cloud technologies and determining suitability for new platform capabilities and services
• Serving as a subject matter expert for database architectures including PostgreSQL and Oracle
• Designing highly available, replicated, clustered, and geographically distributed database architectures
• Building prototypes, proof of concepts, and reference implementations to validate scalability and security
• Converting successful prototypes into repeatable architecture patterns and production-ready designs
