Job summary

The Hartford is seeking a Team Leader Claims to lead investigations, determinations, and settlements, while ensuring compliance with policies and budget guidelines. The role emphasizes coaching staff, precise reserve management, and clear communication of business goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 2 years auto or GL claim experience preferred.
• Strong leadership and coaching abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Ability to partner with internal and external customers.
• Knowledge of reserve accuracy and financial reporting is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Manage Claim professionals with corresponding claim inventories.
• Utilize financial reporting tools to monitor reserve accuracy and trending.
• Maintain and teach understanding of business vision, strategies and plans for achieving business goals.
• Manage and implement change including explaining drivers for business goals.
• Stay current on issues impacting personal and/or commercial business including industry trends and organizational direction.
• Use critical thinking to gather information, apply reasoning, and make sound decisions.
• Manage claim assignment process by identifying claim complexity and ensuring proper assignment.
• Oversee investigation, disposition and settlement of claims in compliance with standards and regulations.
• Assess indemnity and expense exposure and set reserves accurately and timely.
• Explain complex information clearly to customers and stakeholders.
• Train and develop staff for succession and performance.
