Job summary

Munich Re Specialty - North America in Hartford, CT, is seeking a Senior Claims Specialist to lead complex casualty and specialty line claims, directing in-house and third‑party administered cases with counsel, vendors, and partners.

You will evaluate coverage, manage investigations, set reserves, and pursue recoveries, with travel up to 10–15%. A Bachelor's is required; a Law degree is preferred; 10+ years of experience and active adjuster licenses are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Law degree preferred.
• 10+ years experience in handling high exposure casualty and/or specialty claims or relevant legal experience.
• Maintain valid adjusters' license(s) in states assigned or ability to obtain them.

Responsibilities

• Thoroughly investigate and assess claims for coverage and damages, and pursue recoveries and subrogation/contribution opportunities.
• Exercise thoughtful curiosity.
• Demonstrate in-depth understanding of coverage issues, policy forms, contracts, regulatory requirements, and changing legal landscape for casualty and specialty line claims.
• Proactively and promptly manage claims with a strategic vision for optimal outcomes.
• continually evaluate claims to set appropriate reserves over the life of the claim.
