Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. is seeking a Senior Claims Representative to handle mid-to-high exposure bodily injury and property damage claims within its self-administered liability program.

You will investigate, adjust, and direct defense counsel and vendors across the claims process to ensure rigorous handling. The role requires coordination with field operations, legal counsel, safety managers, and insurers, while updating management on status and reserving appropriately.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to handle mid to high exposure claims.
• Strong negotiation skills and ability to deal effectively with claimants and plaintiff attorneys.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Ability to build strong customer relationships and focus on service excellence.
• Understanding of relevant laws and regulations and related medical/legal terminology.

Responsibilities

• Investigates and adjusts claims, and directs outside defense counsel, independent adjusters, experts, and other vendors.
• Supervises outside vendors to ensure claims are handled properly per jurisdiction.
• Alerts the Claims Manager to changes in laws that could impact the liability program.
• Assists Claims Manager in identifying exposures and recommending solutions.
• Interacts with field operations, legal counsel, safety managers, customers, carriers, and third-party claimants.
• Coordinates with Law Department on significant cases and updates field staff on status.
• Recommends and sets reserves representing probable ultimate payout based on file developments.
• Completes detailed internal reports with quality standards.
• Interacts with primary/excess carriers and reinsurers on file meeting reporting thresholds.
