Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. is seeking a Senior Claims Representative to manage complex bodily injury and property damage claims within Ryder's self-administered liability program.

You will investigate, adjust, and direct defense counsel, adjusters, and vendors in the claims process. The role requires handling mid-to-high exposure claims with strong negotiation and communication skills, interacting with field ops, legal, and insurers, and setting appropriate reserves.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Five+ years of casualty claims experience.
• Adjuster license(s) are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Investigates and adjusts claims and directs outside defense counsel, independent adjusters, experts, and other vendors.
• Supervises outside vendors retained for investigations, cost containment, expert witnesses, and litigation management.
• Alerts the Claims Manager to changes in laws that could impact Ryder’s liability program.
• Assists Claims Manager in identifying exposures and recommending solutions.
• Interacts with field and operations management, legal counsel, safety managers, customers, insurers, and third-party claimants.
• Interacts with Law Department on significant cases and updates field operations personnel on claims status.
• Recommends and sets reserves to reflect the probable ultimate payout.
• Completes detailed internal reports.
• Routinely interacts with primary and excess carriers and reinsurers on file meeting reporting thresholds.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
