Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; JD preferred but not required.
• 7–10 years of experience in general liability claims or related litigation.
• Experience evaluating complex coverage issues for CGL policies.
• Experience working with and managing TPAs.
• Strong litigation management and negotiation skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication.
• Highly organized with strong time management.
• Proactive with a sense of urgency.
• Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
• Willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Oversee claims managed by a Third Party Administrator and directly handle an active inventory of primary and excess claims related to policies written from the Commercial Casualty Profit Center.
• Perform coverage analysis and determination, investigate liability and defenses, and conduct reserve evaluations.
• Audit claims systems and conduct on-site visits as needed.
• Attend mediations, settlement conferences, and trials on an as-needed basis to negotiate settlements.
• Provide timely information to underwriters, actuaries and reinsurers to update them on losses that could impact Starr's policies.
