Job summary

CNA Insurance is seeking an experienced claims leader to manage the most complex investigations, including coverage defenses, liability and damages exposures. You will determine if settlements or litigation is warranted, and guide negotiation of the most complex settlements while coordinating with senior management.

The role requires strong analytical and presentation skills, mentoring staff, and staying current on regulatory developments across jurisdictions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; professional designations preferred.
• Typically a minimum 10 years claims experience with proven track record of success.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Manages the most complex investigations of claims, including coverage defenses, liability and damages exposures.
• Determines if a major claim should be settled or litigated and implements an appropriate resolution strategy.
• Directs all types of investigative activity or litigation on major claims and ensures adequate and timely reserves are set.
• Consults with staff counsel or panel attorneys regarding discovery and litigation strategy.
• Directs and may engage in the negotiation of the most complex settlement packages to drive cost effective settlements.
• Keeps current on state/territory regulations and issues industry activity and trends.
