Job summary

Ascot Group is seeking a Senior Claims Counsel, Management Liability, to join the Financial Lines Claims team. This role conducts investigations, analysis, and disposition of Public D&O, Private Company D&O, EPL, and Fiduciary Liability claims with a focus on delivering superior customer service and optimal claim results.

The candidate will work with internal business partners, including underwriting, brokers, insureds, and counsel, to resolve claims and provide legal advice.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree, with a J.D., preferred, or related field of study.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant legal or claim handling experience, ideally in Management Liability, at an insurance carrier or private practice.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts professionally and negotiate within authority.
• Time management skills to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication to articulate coverage determinations.
• Ability to build collaborative relationships with colleagues, customers, and business partners.
• Must be a self-starter and able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of primary and excess Management Liability Claims (Public Company D&O, Private Company D&O, EPL, Fiduciary).
• Analyze, investigate and resolve Management Liability claims with moderate supervision.
• Prepare and present reports on loss development, financial exposure, reserve adjustments, coverage issues, and strategies.
• Collaborate with underwriting on significant claim exposures.
• Maintain comprehensive claims files and review claim/policy information.
• Stay informed on Management Liability and Financial Institutions trends and inform claims and underwriting teams.
