Job summary

Ascot Group seeks a Claims Counsel, Management Liability to join the Financial Lines Claims team. The role conducts investigations, analysis, evaluation, and disposition of claims with a focus on Private & Not-for-Profit claims, delivering superior service and supporting strategic initiatives.

The successful candidate will provide legal advice, collaborate with internal partners, and strive for optimal claim outcomes while aligning with Ascot’s risk and underwriting standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree, with a J.D., preferred, or related field of study.
• Minimum of 3 years of legal or claim handling experience, ideally in Management Liability.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts professionally and negotiate terms within authority.
• Strong verbal and written communication and the ability to collaborate with partners.

Responsibilities

• Manage a workload of primary and excess Management Liability Claims, including Private Company D&O, EPL, Fiduciary Liability, and Commercial Crime claims.
• Analyze, investigate and resolve Management Liability claims with moderate supervision.
• Prepare and present reports reflecting loss development, exposure, reserve adjustments, coverage issues, and strategies.
• Collaborate with underwriting on significant claim exposures.
• Maintain comprehensive claims files and knowledge of trends in Management Liability and Financial Institutions.
