Job summary

Ascot Group is seeking a Claims Counsel, Management Liability, to join our Financial Lines Claims team in Stamford. The role focuses on investigations, analysis, and disposition of claims, aiming to optimize results and support internal partners with legal guidance.

The position requires at least 3 years of relevant experience, a JD preferred, and ability to work independently. You will interact with brokers, insureds, and counsel, and may travel to mediations or conferences as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required; J.D. preferred or related field.
• 3+ years of legal or claims handling experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and claims systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage a workload of primary and excess Management Liability claims.
• Analyze, investigate, and resolve claims with moderate supervision.
• Prepare reports reflecting loss development and financial exposure.
• Collaborate with underwriting on significant claim exposures.
• Coordinate with brokers, insureds and counsel to resolve claims.
• Draft coverage correspondence and manage counsel appointments.
• Maintain comprehensive claims files and stay updated on trends.
• Attend mediations, conferences, trials, and depositions.
• Possess adjuster licenses as required and travel for events.
