Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Senior Civil Structural Engineer to join our Commercial & Industrial team. You will design mat and pier foundations, grading, fencing, and structural details for substation projects, providing technical leadership across phases from concept through commissioning.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years of civil structural experience, proficiency in AutoCAD and MicroStation, and familiarity with power system modeling tools like ETAP/SKM/EasyPower.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited civil engineering degree required.
• 5+ years of civil structural engineering calculations experience.
• Experience with substation and data center projects.
• Proficient with AutoCAD and MicroStation; choose appropriate software as needed.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to identify necessary software for design work.
• 5 years of AutoCAD experience.
• 5 years using power systems modeling software such as ETAP, SKM, and/or EasyPower.
• Strong communication skills for presenting recommendations to customers.
• Ability to work independently with high attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight of conceptual design plans in early project stages.
• Collaborate with data center clients for schedules and cost estimates.
• Design foundations using software like LPILE.
• Develop steel structure models for rigid bus and equipment supports.
• Conduct QA/QC processes.
• Maintain relationships with external partners and present information to clients.
• Lead and participate in client meetings and site visits.
• Mentor junior staff across technical and project management areas.
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines.
