Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Lead Civil Structural Engineer to design and detail mat and pier foundations for substation structures and to design a range of substation components from equipment supports to overhead towers.

Responsibilities include applying codes and client standards, coordinating with other disciplines, and mentoring junior staff. The position may be based in multiple US locations and requires strong QA/QC and cost-conscious design.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BS or MS in Civil Engineering required.
• 6+ years of civil structural engineering experience.
• Active PE license and proficiency with AutoCAD or MicroStation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop overall conceptual design plans for new projects.
• Collaborate with renewables developers and clients on schedules and cost estimates.
• Design foundations using software such as LPILE and develop steel structure models.
• Perform QA/QC processes and coordinate with other disciplines.
• Mentor less experienced staff and participate in client meetings/site visits.
• Establish relationships with external partners and present data to clients.
