Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Lead Civil Structural Engineer to design and detail mat and pier foundations for substations and structures ranging from equipment supports to overhead line towers. You will apply codes and client standards, develop general arrangements and layouts, and oversee aspects from foundation details to bill of materials.

The role includes mentoring staff, coordinating with other disciplines, and maintaining QA/QC across projects.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited bachelor's or master's in civil engineering.
• 6+ years of civil structural engineering experience.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and MicroStation is a plus.
• Active Professional Engineering (PE) license.
• Experience in transmission, distribution and generating stations is a plus.
• Strong analytical and computer skills; ability to select appropriate software.

Responsibilities

• Develop overall conceptual design plans for new projects.
• Collaborate with renewable energy developers and clients on schedules and cost estimates.
• Design foundations using software such as LPILE.
• Develop steel structure models for rigid bus and equipment supports.
• Perform QA/QC processes.
• Present information to clients and manage meetings/site visits.
• Mentor junior staff on technical and project management skills.
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines.
