Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Civil Structural Engineer to design and detail mat and pier type foundations for substation structures, and to design substation structures from simple equipment supports to overhead line towers.

The role involves applying applicable codes and client standards to design general arrangements, equipment layouts, elevation views, grading and fence plans, and bills of material, with QA/QC emphasis and cost control.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited B.S. or M.S. in civil engineering.
• 4+ years of civil-structural engineering calculations experience.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD or MicroStation; strong analytical and computer skills; valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Develop conceptual design plans for new projects.
• Collaborate with renewable energy clients for schedules and cost estimates.
• Design foundations using LPILE.
• Develop steel structure models for rigid bus and supports.
• Perform QA/QC processes.
• Coordinate with other disciplines.
• Mentor junior staff.
