Job summary

Conterra Engineering, in a remote Colorado-based role, is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to independently develop civil designs for land development and renewable energy projects, guiding plans from planning through permitting and construction support.

You will lead drainage analyses, grading, utilities and site layout using AutoCAD Civil 3D, mentor junior staff, coordinate with clients and AHJs, and occasionally travel to sites.

Qualifications

• Independently complete civil/site designs with coordinated permit documents.
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, with hands-on design experience.
• Experience leading drainage design, including hydrologic and hydraulic calculations.
• Experience independently preparing drainage reports and other technical documentation.
• Strong written communication, organizational, and coordination skills.
• Ability to manage assigned work and deadlines in a remote environment with proactive communication.
• Mentor junior engineers through task delegation, design reviews, and feedback.

Responsibilities

• Lead civil design for land development and renewable energy projects.
• Perform grading, drainage, utility, site layout, and erosion control design.
• Lead drainage analyses and stormwater design.
• Use AutoCAD Civil 3D for design and plan production.
• Prepare and oversee complete construction plans, reports, specs, and calculations.
• Review designs for accuracy and constructability.
• Coordinate with clients, AHJs, surveyors, and other disciplines.
• Identify missing information and develop solutions to avoid schedule impacts.
• Mentor junior engineers and manage task deadlines.
• Occasional site visits and limited travel.
