Job summary

Kleinfelder is seeking a Civil Engineer to join our West Des Moines office. The role involves delivering civil, municipal, and environmental projects alongside CAD Technicians, construction observers, and land survey staff in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

The ideal candidate will have a Civil or Environmental Engineering degree, 5–10 years of design experience, and ideally an Iowa PE license or ability to obtain within a year.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering is required.
• Minimum 5–10 years of civil engineering design experience preferred.
• Iowa PE license or ability to obtain within 1 year preferred.
• Experience with roadways, storm sewers, sanitary sewers, and water distribution design is desired.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed technical engineering reports.
• Prepare or modify plans, specs, schedules, permits, and cost/quantity estimates for public works projects.
• Work with Construction Observers/Resident Technicians during all facets of construction.
• Assist Project Manager in completing projects within budget and on schedule.
• Client contact, including attendance at board or council meetings.
