Job summary

Kleinfelder in Des Moines, IA is seeking a Senior Municipal Engineer to lead civil, municipal, and environmental projects alongside CAD Technicians and construction staff. The role emphasizes design excellence, project coordination, and community impact.

You will develop plans, supervise reports, and work with clients and regulators to keep projects on schedule and within budget. Iowa PE licensure or ability to obtain within a year is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of civil engineering design experience.
• Iowa PE license or ability to obtain within 1 year.
• Experience with roadway, storm sewer, sanitary sewer and water distribution design.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed technical engineering reports.
• Prepare or modify plans, specifications, construction schedules, permits, and cost estimates for public works projects.
• Work with Construction Observers/Resident Technicians during all facets of construction.
• Assist Project Manager in completing projects within budget and on schedule.
• Client contact including attendance at board or council meetings.
