Job summary

Kleinfelder seeks a full-time Civil Engineer for our West Des Moines, IA office to support a broad range of civil, municipal, and environmental projects. You will collaborate with CAD Technicians, Construction Observers, Land Survey Chiefs, and staff to deliver integrated solutions.

The role targets a Professional Engineer with 5–10 years of design experience, Iowa licensure or progress toward it, and strong written/verbal communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
• Iowa PE license or ability to obtain within 1 year preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed technical engineering reports.
• Prepare or modify plans, specifications, construction schedules, permits, and cost estimates for public works projects.
• Work with Construction Observers/Resident Technicians during all facets of construction.
• Assist Project Manager in completing project within budget and on schedule.
• Client contact including attendance at board or council meetings.
