Job summary

Kleinfelder is seeking a full-time Civil Engineer in our West Des Moines, IA office to design and manage civil, municipal, and environmental projects for local communities.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Civil or Environmental Engineering, 5–10 years of experience, and the ability to obtain Iowa PE license within 1 year. Strong communication and collaboration with CAD technicians and project staff are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering is required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
• Minimum 5–10 years of civil engineering design experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed technical engineering reports.
• Prepare or modify plans, specifications, construction schedules, permits, and cost and quantity estimates for public works projects.
• Work with Construction Observers/Resident Technicians during all facets of construction.
• Assist Project Manager in completing projects within budget and on schedule.
• Provide client contact including attendance at board or council meetings.
