Job summary

Kleinfelder, Inc. in West Des Moines, IA is seeking a full-time Civil Engineer to join our collaborative team on municipal and environmental projects.

You will collaborate with CAD Technicians, Construction Observers, and office staff to deliver integrated design solutions. Ideal candidates hold a Civil or Environmental Engineering degree with 5–10 years of civil design experience, and Iowa PE license could be preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering required.
• Minimum 5-10 years of civil engineering design experience preferred.
• Iowa PE license or ability to obtain within 1 year preferred.
• Previous roadway, storm sewer, sanitary collection sewers and water distribution design experience desired.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed technical engineering reports.
• Prepare or modify plans, specifications, construction schedules, permits, and cost and quantity estimates for public works projects.
• Work with Construction Observers/Resident Technicians during all facets of construction.
• Assist Project Manager in completing project within budget and on schedule.
• Client contact including attendance at board or council meetings.
