Job summary

Kleinfelder is seeking a full-time Senior Municipal Engineer to lead civil, municipal, and environmental design projects for communities across the region. You will collaborate with CAD Technicians, Construction Observers, and field staff to deliver high-quality public works solutions.

The ideal candidate has a Civil or Environmental Engineering background, 10+ years of design experience, and an Iowa PE license or the ability to obtain it within a year.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering required.
• Minimum 10 years of civil engineering design experience preferred/desired.
• Iowa PE license or ability to obtain within 1 year preferred.
• Previous roadway, storm sewer, sanitary collection sewers and water distribution design experience desired.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed technical engineering reports.
• Prepare or modify plans, specifications, construction schedules, permits, and cost and quantity estimates for public works projects.
• Work with Construction Observers/Resident Technicians during all facets of construction.
• Assist Project Manager in completing project within budget and on schedule.
• Client contact including attendance at board or council meetings.
