Job summary

Kleinschmidt Associates is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to lead multidisciplinary teams on dam removals, stream restoration, and renewable energy projects. You will develop designs, supervise construction support, and ensure technical quality from concept through bid drawings.

The role offers a hybrid work model with 2–3 days in-office, travel as needed, and collaboration with scientists, analysts, and licensing experts across the U.S.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Develop and review construction drawings, notes, typical details, specs, material schedules, and quantity takeoffs.
• Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, including alignments, profiles, corridors, grading design, earthwork modeling, and basemaps from public data.
• Experience with civil site development for roadways and drainage, land development, dam decommissioning/removal, stream restoration, and/or fish passage engineering.
• Experience as task lead or project engineer coordinating design development, quality, and delivery of engineering projects.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, mentor junior staff, perform technical quality reviews, and manage scope, schedule, and budget.
• Professional Engineer (PE)

Responsibilities

• Work with senior staff across all project stages from conceptual design to issued for bid drawings.
• Conduct site visits, field data collection, calculations, CAD design, and spatial analysis.
• Coordinate with scientists, data analysts, engineers, and licensing experts to develop solutions.
• Prepare specifications, reports, and presentation slides; support construction observation.
• Lead and mentor team members to ensure technical quality and timely delivery.
