Job summary

Akima Infrastructure Services (AIS) is actively seeking a Civil Design Engineer to develop high-quality design packages and provide field technical support for the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, TN and the Pantex Plant in Amarillo, TX.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Engineering from an ABET-accredited school with 20+ years of experience or a Master's with 19+ years; DOE Q clearance readiness; and ability to work in a production environment, with pre-employment drug screens and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited school with a minimum of 20+ years experience or a Masters with 19+ years experience.
• Requires strong verbal and written communication skills to interface with clients and staff.
• Willing to work in a production environment.
• Ability to obtain/maintain a DOE Q clearance.
• Pre-employment drug screen and medical exam may be required.
• Possibility of WSAP designation and random drug testing.

Responsibilities

• Develop high-quality detailed design packages and provide engineering procurement and field technical support.
• Collaborate with an integrated project team or act as a technical lead for multi-discipline tasks.
• Perform field walk downs to generate design documents and support craft personnel.
• Apply established engineering practices, codes and standards to solve problems.
• Oversee storm designs, road design, soil evaluation and oversight of external firms.
• Familiarity with consensus design codes; CAD drafting experience is preferred.
